This week, I mainly worked on the coasters I was designing last week. I also did some things for the power supply/PCB mount for the word clock. On Monday, I remeasured the holes for the mount because as I showed in my post last week, some of my measurements were off and where the holes on the mount were placed didn't fit with the holes on the power supply. After I remeasured the holes, I fixed the design in Fusion and made a file to 3D print it.
For the remainder of the week, I worked on my coasters while I waited for my turn to use the 3D printer. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to use the printer this week, because there were a lot of people in line waiting for the printer. In the meantime, I finished designing all of the coasters on Tuesday and got one of them cut out in cardboard.

On Wednesday I cut out one of the coasters in wood, but the design wasn't showing up as dark as I would've liked it to be. I asked Mr. L about it and he suggested lowering the speed of the lasercutter. On Wednesday, I also went with Kim and Jaspreet to measure the windows in the main office. He's making some more maps and asked us to measure the windows for him.

On Thursday, I continued cutting out the coasters in wood. I only got four out of the five cut out, because it took me a few tries to change the lasercutter's settings so that the engravings came out how I wanted them. The first one I cut out, I just used the default deep engraving setting in the lasercutter, but you could barely even see the design. I talked to Mr. L and that was when he suggested that lowering the speed might make them more visible. The third one was when I turned the speed down almost all the way, and you can see the design a lot better. After I got the settings figured out and how I wanted them, I cut out three other coasters. I only have one more to cut out and then I'm going to apply a wood finisher, probably next week, so that I can actually put cups on them. I'm also hoping to 3D print the power supply/PCB mount some time next week.
